Come see a beloved local landmark all dressed up in its holiday best! EastProv Hospitality is excited to shine a spotlight on Pomham Rocks Lighthouse in Riverside, which sits proudly on an island just off the coast and is famous for its bright red beacon on Narragansett Bay. This holiday season, the historic lighthouse is glowing even brighter with festive spirit—and you won’t need a boat to enjoy the view! Thanks to the hard work of the Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse, more than a thousand twinkling lights now blanket the 150-year-old landmark, creating a magical sight from top to bottom.
The catwalk railing around the lantern room sparkles with cheerful white lights, while red, white, and green lights outline the lighthouse in full holiday color. Even the flagpole is happily wrapped in lights. The white picket fence circling the half-acre island now glows like a rainbow, adding to the joyful display. Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse invite everyone to take in the festive scene from the East Bay Bike Path. Visitors can park at the lot on the corner of Bullocks Point Avenue and Washington Avenue, next to Dairy Bee, with the Bike Path just across the street. It’s a short, pleasant stroll to a perfect viewing spot. The lighthouse will shine nightly from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM through December 27—so bring your camera to capture the magic, and a flashlight for your walk back.
Pomham Rocks Lighthouse, the last surviving lighthouse in upper Narragansett Bay, is lovingly cared for by the Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse, a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation. Since 2004, the group has worked to protect and preserve this New England treasure, proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
