At EastProv Hospitality, we love nothing more than celebrating the people, places, and traditions that make East Providence feel like home. Few things do that better than food—especially the kind passed down through generations, shared at crowded tables, and remembered long after the last bite.
That’s why we’re excited to help spread the word about a wonderful community project from the East Providence Public Library: the creation of an EPPL Community Cookbook—and they want your family recipes and stories to be part of it.
More Than Recipes—It’s Family History
Every family recipe tells a story. Maybe it’s Nonna’s Sunday sauce, Vovó’s recipe that somehow always tasted better when she made it, or Mémère’s dessert—her handwritten recipe pulled out for every holiday—the kind of dish that draws everyone back to the table, fills the house with familiar comfort, and instantly feels like home.
These dishes carry memories of family gatherings, cultural traditions, and moments that connect generations. By gathering recipes from across the community, the East Providence Public Library is preserving more than ingredients and instructions—they’re capturing the heart of East Providence, one dish at a time.
Let’s Cook Up Something Special
This project is a beautiful reminder that libraries aren’t just about books—they’re about stories, connections, and community. Whether your recipe has been perfected over decades or scribbled on a well-worn index card, it deserves to be shared.
What to Submit
The library is inviting residents to share their favorite family recipes, including:
Desserts
Entrées
Appetizers
And everything in between
Each cookbook page will feature:
Your family’s recipe
One or two photos (optional)
A short story or memory connected to the dish
Once enough recipes are collected, they’ll be published into a community cookbook for everyone to enjoy—a true celebration of shared traditions and local flavor.
